Loving the Child Within

In the dark,
Shivering and cold,
I remember you.

Laughed at, ridiculed
Ashamed.
Needing to disappear,
I remember you.

Searching for that look
Of approval.
Wanting that comforting
Hug.

Instead,
Feeling unseen
And left behind.

Now all grown up.
But I still remember you.

I remember you
Because I was you.

I saw you
And I see you now.
I held you
And I hold you still.

With a kindness,
A guidance,
A protection
Divine,

I have grown.
Grown to know
The great power of true love.

The kind that holds
The stars in place,
The sun at bay,
The moon for play.

Is this a fairytale
Or supreme astrophysics?
Either way
I must be loved.

How else
Could I be protected,
Be free to witness
Explore and come to know

The Might.
That surrounds
Nurtures and holds,
Both me and the stars.

As the ‘passage way’

Of parenthood,

We’ve strived to be.

From nurturing to

Nagging,

As cheerleaders to

Protectors.

But actually,

With our smiles

Our laughter

And even the cries,

It’s Companions

We have grown

To become.

We’ve won as parents!

We hope you did too!

As despite any time

Apart,

We always feel that need

To come on back.

Back to the place

Of our togetherness.

So as 21 years

Rolls on in,

We have only to give

More of what

We’ve been blessed to have,

More WE.

From dream

To reality

You have emerged,

Definitely

A gift of complete

God-liness.

As beauty radiates

From inside out,

May you leave

Little gems

Of a life well lived,

Where ever

Your story unfolds…

Happy Birthday, Honey.

Unforgettable

Infectious smile
Hearty laughter
Jester, teaser
My heart so warms
Wanting to be sad
Instances unpredictable
Yet somewhere there is freedom
For both you and me
My spirit knows you’re in peace
My living form still wants you near
As days pass I learn
I can still have joy
Joys we both made
My gratitude eases the pain
My humility allows acceptance
From my depth emerge answers
Not all that are alive are living
Not all that are dead are gone
But if we are truly One
Then it must be
That if I live
Then you must too
And so, brother
My heart continues to beat ♥️

Peony

Impenetrable
With concentrated density
Tucked and tugged
Her tightness to a bud
Inspiring intrigue
What will become of her
Will she unfurl
Or forever remain insular
Slowly enticed
Her surroundings beckon
With the welcome of suns
By nurturing nutrients
She begins to emerge
Tender gingering
Her mass begins a swell
What lays in her depth
Is both her discovery and reveal
Unending layers
Uniform throughout
Rich with color for living
Graced with buoyant form
Wanting to give of herself
Her soft embrace
Her plentitude
Her deepest gratitude
Yet her bud-time hesitancy
Never too far
As some restraint
Still grounds her down
Tale of the Peony
Who is she to you
You’ve watched her from afar
But she knows you’ve always watered her ♥️

Letting go…..

Hiding from the inevitable

Avoiding the breakdown

Denying the process
Come I say, come!

Full force and break me

Fill me with your pain
Drown me, then wash with you

Away the momentary anguish

Leave me cleaned and empty
My choice to feel the void

My blessing to fill with love

My clarity to know the truth
What’s truly mine

I can never lose

Yet given freely and abundantly replenish
This is the story of love

Never to be lost

Only to be gained
Wellspring eternal

Even for the mortal

Mesh, merge and mingle
Into every moment, everyday

Let transient slip and slide

And love shine and be forever bright

Ordinary to Extraordinary

image
From child to adult
Tantrums and triumphs
Explorations to exhibitions

Delving in books
Exploring the possibilities
Discovering the unbelievable

Dreams being planted
Passions evoked
Worthiness unquestionable

Trials and tribulations
Successes and successors
All necessary forces

Failure or conquest
Lessons are learnt
Purpose evolving

Formation of character
Revelation of spirit
Eruption of heart

From moment to moment
Feeling the essence
Learning the jive

No goal to reach
Prize is constant
With unlocking of now

If ever ordinary
Can go to extraordinary
This is how!!

In your honor Roshan, pleasure to witness your becoming!

Eighteen Today

image

No mother could be prouder
Of the infant to child
The teenager to adult
That you have become

With obvious insecurities
To seasoned confidences
From fears and trepidations
To successes and conquests

With molding and shaping
Your character blooming
Showing love and kindness
To joy and gratitude

Always respectful
Quietly inquisitive
Always striving
Wanting knowing of more

For simply just who you are
I hope you’ll carry
My love always close
To nurture and comfort

For no matter the year
No matter the decade
You’ll always be mine
And I’ll always yours
